Max Tenney

Max Tenney, Esq.

Juris Doctor

Max Tenney graduated with honors from UCLA and at the top of his class at Baylor Law. Before attending law school, Max had a successful career in technology but felt a deeper calling to serve others, leading him to pursue a career in family law. During his time at Baylor Law, Max dedicated himself to various causes, including working as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care and serving as Vice President of Baylor Law’s HEAL organization (Help, Educate, Advocate, and Learn), where he advocated for victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Max also contributed to his community by writing wills for veterans and working with juveniles in the justice system.

Max’s professional journey is deeply personal. Having navigated family court alongside his wife, Ashley, Max gained a thorough understanding of the emotional and legal complexities involved. His experience managing the challenges of a blended family and the difficulties of co-parenting in a high-conflict dynamic—particularly one involving interstate travel—has uniquely equipped him to address these same issues for Thaler Law’s clients with insight and compassion. This firsthand knowledge of the struggles families face during such transitions has strengthened his commitment to providing empathetic and effective legal advocacy.

Max is guided by his faith and the words of the late Justice Harlan:

“The Constitution protects the sanctity of the family precisely because the institution of the family is deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and tradition. It is through the family that we inculcate and pass down many of our most cherished values, moral and cultural.” — Griswold v. Connecticut

Max holds the preservation of families as central to his work and strives to protect their rights and well-being.

When he’s not practicing law, Max enjoys perfecting his BBQ techniques, spending time with his four kids, and watching literally anything on ESPN. He also dabbles in amateur hunting—though he admits he’s a terrible shot! Fortunately, his aim in the courtroom is much sharper, where he’s known for achieving results with precision and skill.
